Dr. Mallaree Blake, PsyD - Licensed Psychologist
"Growing up in a family that seldom talked about the elephant in the room, I learned that to change the course of my life, I needed to find my voice and get comfortable using it. I became comfortable talking about experiences and situations that I saw others struggle to put words to - they were uncomfortable, painful and even taboo. As a result of being able to talk openly, my friends began seeking me out as a friend who would listen, care, and understand their stress, heartache, and loss.
My professional path as a therapist actually started in sociology, focusing on sexual health and sexuality, with a strong thread of valuing various cultures and walks of life. I thought about becoming a sex therapist, believing that sexuality is a dynamic part of the human condition. Again, where my peers and the world around me seemed less comfortable talking about sex and its place in their lives and relationships, I wanted to help others do just this."
My roots for helping others who typically don’t have a voice grew deeper during my next steps of working in an addiction treatment center, a pioneering women’s health clinic, with college students adjusting to young adulthood, and with the LGTBQ community. And finally, my own experience of relational loss, learning how to date as an adult, and helping my friends put voice to their experience of fertility, miscarriage and pregnancy challenges, and adjusting to parenthood, I strengthened my resolve to empower others to heal, strengthen and transform through life and relationship experiences."

Dr. Kristen Hick, Psy.D. - Director, Licensed Psychologist
"My journey in relationship work began long before I put on my high school cap and gown. Always interested in the dating issues of friends, wanting to ease and "fix" family conflict, and then later, personally struggling to break free of unhealthy dating patterns, I've been studying relationships all my life - inside and outside of the classroom. It was through working on my relationship with myself that I found true transformation in my relationships.
Now, its my mission to help others with dating and relationship concerns - recognizing toxic and unhealthy patterns, teaching clients how to put their needs first, building healthy relationships and skills, coping with break-ups and divorce, and recovering from relationship loss in way that dramatically enhances your future relationships. My goal is to help clients heal, strengthen and transform their relationship with themselves and with the loved ones in their life - and beyond."
Dr. Kristen Hick provides specialized treatment for:
- Relationship challenges - dating, relationships, break-ups and divorce
- Trauma and Abuse
- Pregnancy and Postpartum Health
- Anxiety and Depression
- Attachment Styles
Dr. Hick's approach focuses on helping you understand what is happening and why - there is no wizard behind the curtain here. She helps you understand how someone else provided this relationship model to you long ago and how, despite your best attempts to make this model work, it's not. She helps you learn how to change your model and how to apply it to build healthier, secure, satisfying and enduring relationships for the rest of your life.
Dr. Hick is passionate about her work and feels honored to be a part of each client's journey, knowing how hard and vulnerable it feels to take the first step to get help. Her therapeutic style is described as a balance of warmth, understanding and a gentle push towards change. Her approach focuses on building a strong working relationship with clients, which provides the foundation to explore, process, and change patterns.
