CSIP Update: We now offer limited in-person therapy sessions and will continue to offer secure telehealth sessions to provide safe, accessible and convenient therapy for our clients.
Whether you are considering therapy during the age of social distancing or want the convenience of holding a session from the comfort of your home without the need for a babysitter for kids, online therapy is an essential, effective way to get help on all sorts of concerns.
Yet, you might be wondering: “Are online sessions as effective as in-person sessions?” The short answer is: YES! Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. While it may feel a little different at first, you save time and money, and increase access, while still receiving the same level of client care.
Reduced Cost
While the online session rate is the same as our in-person session rate, your cost is actually lower when you consider all the variables. You will save on gas and reduce the wear-and-tear on your car, which can add up, considering you might drive several miles to and from our therapy office each week. If you’re in couples therapy and both partners are driving from work, this can become even more expensive. Not to mention, online sessions save the headache and frustration of Denver traffic. The financial and emotional costs certainly add up over weeks and months!
For individuals who have kiddos at home, online therapy reduces the cost of finding a babysitter for you to attend the session. With kiddos in bed, taking a nap, or in another room watching a video, you can work on your relationship with your partner or with yourself, without leaving your home.
Saved Time
We know that your life is busy and you don’t have extra time to waste. Attending online sessions saves between 30 and 90 minutes of driving time per session, which adds up over several weeks. Online sessions allow you to attend in a location and during a time that is convenient for you, such as over a lunch hour or from the comfort of home.
Increased Accessibility
Who says you have to drive far to find a therapist who is a great fit for you? Therapists at CSIP see clients residing anywhere in the state of Colorado. So whether you live near our office in Denver, Colorado, or in a rural town on the Western Slope, we have you covered!
We recognize that you might be homebound - either due to health issues, bedrest during pregnancy, recently giving birth and feeling overwhelmed with leaving the house, or being a stay-at home-parent, among other reasons. Being able to engage in therapy without leaving home is a huge deal for so many. We hope to make these stressful times in life a little bit smoother.
Therapy can also be enhanced digitally by allowing couples or family members who are in different locations (e.g., maybe one person is at home and one person is at work) to take part in online therapy together.
Excellent Client Care Standards
Online therapy has been shown to be a helpful and effective alternative to meeting in person with your therapist. Our team is dedicated to helping you feel comfortable, as if you were sitting across from us in our office. Nonverbal information, such as facial expressions and body language are all visible and utilized in the session, just as they are during in-person sessions. Our secure video technology makes this all possible.
Stuck at home and know your relationship could use some help? Our highly trained therapists can provide the support and skills to heal, strengthen and transform your relationship. Online therapy is an effective way to learn the skills to take your relationship to the next level.
The team at Center for Shared Insight can serve you and our Colorado community during and after this difficult time. Our therapists are here to help you sort through the challenges and anxieties posed by covid-19, including perceived dating and relationship obstacles.
If you'd like to meet with one of our therapists for a video session or phone call through our secure telehealth platform, contact us today to learn more!
Yes it is! With the advent of Telehealth, there have been several studies that have researched how effective teletherapy, and specifically, video therapy sessions are. Here is some of the research we found, as discussed in a recent article by the American Psychological Association,
The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs found the two methods are equally as effective when they compared PTSD interventions conducted with in-person and video therapy (Turgoose, D., et al., Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, Vol. 24, No. 9, 2018)
Video and In-Person therapies are equally as effective for depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder (Varker, T., et al., Psychological Services, Vol. 16, No. 4, 2019).
Video and In-Person therapies are equally as effective for substance use, eating disorders and other problems in children and adolescents (Slone, N.C., et al., Psychological Services, Vol. 9, No. 3, 2012).
After conducting teletherapy sessions since mid March 2020, we have found that our clients get as much out of their video sessions as they did when meeting in-person.

"My journey in relationship work began long before I put on my high school cap and gown. Always interested in the dating issues of friends, wanting to ease and "fix" family conflict, and then later, personally struggling to break free of unhealthy dating patterns, I've been studying relationships all my life - inside and outside of the classroom. It was through working on my relationship with myself that I found true transformation in my relationships.
Now, it's my mission to help others with relationship concerns - ...
